Talos Welding is a one-man fabrication company based in Rhode Island.

I’m a professional engineer and operating engineer with IUOE Local 57. I spent 17 years as a facilities design engineer for the US Navy before leaving the office to do real work. After running equipment in the on-site wastewater industry for a few years, I went to work with Cavanagh Marine on heavy marine construction projects.

Along the way I built Talos Welding, doing highly technical custom welding and fabrication, continued engineering consulting, and run my own plow truck on contract with RIDOT in the winter.

The through-line is simple: I’ve done the desk work and I’ve done the hard, dirty, high-consequence field work. I know what holds up and what doesn’t — and I’ve got no interest in engineering that looks good on paper but falls apart in the field.

Too much of what gets sold to contractors and tradesmen is designed by people who have never had to install it, use it under real conditions, or stand behind it when it fails. The result is gear that only kind of gets the job done. Talos exists to build the opposite: practical tools and hardware made for tradesmen, by someone who who does the work.
